From her first piano lesson in elementary school to earning an A.S. in Music in 2009, Alyssa has always had a musically driven mind. With classical piano her primary instrument for many years, she became knowledgeable at a young age about composers, theory, and performance. After learning guitar, drums and saxophone in high school with the help of professionals that surrounded her, she also helped create an all-girl rock band on drums and performed at well-known venues including The Chance Theatre in Poughkeepsie, NY and Bar East in NYC. To add more string instruments, picking up the bass for a locally touring cover band became a weekly gig. In the meantime, she never forgot about the most unique instrument she'd ever played, the harp.
Becoming a strolling Bedside Harp® ‘Hospital-Certified Harp Therapist’ in 2007 with her portable instrument, Alyssa learned to create therapeutically soothing and healing sounds to appreciative patients in hospitals and nursing homes, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff. The harp is also being discovered to work amazingly in holistic care settings as well, including yoga and massage therapy. But not only does the harp heal, it also brings a room full of entertainment for restaurants, weddings, corporate events and cocktail parties. With musical talent also comes hard work and creativity and continues to enjoy improvising tunes, melodies, and songs in a vast array of genres ranging from Pop, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Electronic, Acoustic, Alternative and Classical.
